Greeeeeeen!

Happy Earth Day everyone!  The weather perked up for the celebration, which was welcome in my home! Taking advantage of the summer like weather, we went to the local nursery to get some plants for the patio. (Above you can see two new tenants, Red House Finches) OOhhh how nice it was!  Tons of blooming flowers, plants, and foliage perfect for the home!  I had a budget and it was so tough choosing which ones to take home.  I finally settled on some food giving plants (jalapeño, hot pepper, roma tomato, and strawberry), pansies, morning glories and petunias.  I also picked up a couple plants that I have no idea what they are, but they fit my zone and sun and looked pretty so home they went!  I’m sure there is a tag somewhere, I just haven’t found it yet!

Img_1562_copysm Saturday we went to eat our weekly fish n’ chips and custard, and noticed a Historic Garden Society was having a herb and flower sale!  Pickings were slim, but I got a really nice lavender bush and some spearmint, which reminded me of the wild mint that grew in my home when I was a child.

Spring has almost Sprung

Spring is my favorite time of the year for one main reason, the cherry blossoms! A few have already blossomed!

Reach for the Sky!

What a sunny (but cold) day!  I came home to find my "Magic Bean" sprouted! On one side was a peace symbol, the other, "Peace be with you".

In other plant news, my basil and tomato plants have started to really sprout!  The tomato plants are growing really fast, I'll have to transfer them soon! My lavender seedlings are still hiding out, I can only see a few inside the mini greenhouse.
